Julie Makes Tropicana

a Personal Showcase

LAS VEGAS --- Julie London has become one of the strongest attractions in Hotel Tropicana’s Blue Room. In fact, the provocative song stylist has made this club her own personal showcase, which she is proving again by attracting large, enthusiastic audiences.

Nocturnal swingers are enjoying an updated program that gives the girl with the silky-soft voice opportunity to belt out a few numbers as well as reinforce her reputation as mistress of the smoky ballad.

She comes on strong with “Take Me For A Little While” and “Never will I Marry”. Other items include “By Myself,” “Makin’ Whoopee,” “Didn’t We,” “Once Upon A Time,” “Accentuate the Positive,” “Summertime,” “The Man That Got Away,” “Cry Me A River” her theme song) and “Goodbye.”

Miss London is backed by four male singers, Tom Knox, Jim Schamp, John Felten and Jim Wheeler, and by the Blue Room orchestra conducted by Don Overberg, who also accompanies the singer on amplified guitar, which is too loud.

Dick Lord supplies a comedy interlude and a fine young recording group, The Match, opens proceedings on the bill which continues through Aug. 2. Louis Nye and Helen Forrest open Aug. 20.
